Originally from Brooklyn, New York, August Frederick Schulze, Jr. entered the Connecticut Agricultural College in the fall of 1908 as a third year student in the Associate Course in Agriculture. He was active at CAC as a color sergeant in the campus military organization, the CAC Cadet Battalion, from 1909 through 1911.
